The skills that we possess and have further developed date back hundreds of years with a modern twist of updated machinery and tools. The company started framing in 1979. In the years after Tim and his family took ownership in 1997, the company has grown significantly.

Kingswood is now able to offer restoration, gilding, decorated frames made by hand, in house moulding manufacture, and carving, focusing on the specialist hand finished service.

With an ever-growing team of skilled framers, gilders and woodworkers, Kingswood is only one of a few framers in the UK that can offer this comprehensive range of services, all made in house and offering flexibility in style and design, giving you the best quality product that is built to last.

Since 1979 we have built a range of frame styles that cover every period from the 15th to the 21st century.

Working closely with artists, curators, interior designers, and conservators, we design unique frames for projects, in addition to one of the largest selections of hand made and finished mouldings in the UK.

Large Dutch Ripple

This is a large Dutch ripple frame we created for artist Sarah Margaret Gibson. It is the second largest Dutch ripple frame we have made to date.

Decorated Frame

This decorated frame is for artist John Myatt. It was made specifically and is unique for this piece of art.

19th Century Naval Hat

We don't always frame flat pieces, we made this box frame for a 19th century Naval hat.

Circular Dutch Ripple

New machinery was made to make this circular frame. We also added Dutch ripple on the outside for a little extra flare for artist Mary Jane Ansell.

Filming for Sky

This picture was taken when we were filming for Sky Arts, for a show called Fake! The Great Masterpiece Challenge.

Mona Lisa

We hand carved a replica frame for a replica painting of the Mona Lisa, painted by John Myatt, with a microscopic copy of the art and the frame, placed in the paintings eye By Willard Wigan.

Tabernacle Frame for L.A

This tabernacle frame was for a client in Los Angeles. The frames (there were two of them) we about six feet in height.

Hand Carved

A hand carved Sansovino frame, with 22 1/2 carat gold leaf that was shipped to Chicago.

The Mona Lisa Project

At the end of 2016, Kingswood were commissioned to make an exact replica of the frame that sits around one of the most recognised paintings in the world, DaVinci’s Mona Lisa.
