Dutch Ripple In 2019, we started designing a Flamleisten machine which could create ripple and wave mouldings. It took three years of research, development, and building to have the machine we have today. It copies the designs dated from the late 16th Century/ early 17th Century. it does not yet have a motor component meaning it is all done by hand.	Frame Making Moulds We currently posses a collection of 700 moulds which date from the late 1700s to the mid to late 1800s. The skill of pattern making is now extinct in Britain, however we are on the Heritage Crafts Red List of Endangered Crafts for composition making.	Moulding Making With an almost infinite choice of designs to make using these cutters, we still add to our collection to create more. Using FSC sourced wood, we cut down the planks of timbre to create the desired shape, depth and width.	Carving Our collection of 350 antique and new chisels makes the process of carving a frame easier. We use traditional lime timber as it is one of the softest woods to use. With the knowledge we posses of framing history, we can create, or replicate frames from the 18th Century or earlier, as many frames after that are normally made using compo.
Our Team As a family run business, we are passing on the skills we learned to the younger generation so our framing knowledge can continue. We understand the importance of customer service, and will always make our customers the priority.

99% of the mouldings we use are made and finished on-site at our Welshpool location from planks of raw wood, meaning this gives an endless range of shapes, designs and wood species all FSC sourced for sustainability. This ability makes us one of the largest suppliers of hand made frames in the UK today, able to cope with large, or small projects.

Dutch Ripple Frames

We can now create Dutch Ripple frames with the Flamleisten machine we built based on the 17th Century design.

Decorated Frames

Using our 800 frame making mold collection, we create stunning compo frames finishing them in gold, dutch leaf, or paint.

Standard & Exhibition Framing

We also do lot of exhibition work for artists as well as frames for the general public.

Carving

Using our frame history knowledge, we can create and replicate 18th Century, and earlier, frames.

Gilding

With our gilder having 30 year of experience, we can water gild, or on occasion when requested, oil gild.

Restoration

With a sound knowledge of frame manufacture, history and finishing we can restore and conserve any frame.
